The Governing Council of this prestigious institution was inaugurated on 27th September 2010 under the auspices of the then-executive Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko. However, academic activities in the university kicked off fully in January 2011. As a result, the ground was set for the matriculation of the first set of students in March 2011.
One of the unique features of the institution is its population. As of February 2025, Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH) welcomed over 2,800 new students during its 14th Matriculation Ceremony. It is estimated that the school has a student body of about 5,000. Obviously, it is quite less large. Nevertheless, these statistics are commendable looking at the age of the institution.
