Brief History Of Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH)

The Governing Council of this prestigious institution was inaugurated on 27th September 2010 under the auspices of the then-executive Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko. However, academic activities in the university kicked off fully in January 2011. As a result, the ground was set for the matriculation of the first set of students in March 2011.

One of the unique features of the institution is its population. As of February 2025, Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH) welcomed over 2,800 new students during its 14th Matriculation Ceremony. It is estimated that the school has a student body of about 5,000. Obviously, it is quite less large. Nevertheless, these statistics are commendable looking at the age of the institution. This suggests that the university’s enrollment figures have been increasing, aligning with its growth objectives.

Furthermore, the academic activities of the institution are run on three different campuses – the main campus, the mega campus, and the mini campus. Firstly, the main campuses house the Faculty of Science, the school’s main library, the ICT Building, the school’s auditorium, and other structures.

On the other hand, the mega campus houses the faculty of Engineering and Engineering Technology while the mini campus houses the Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources. All these are equipped with all the facilities necessary to enhance learning.

Governing Body of OAUSTECH

The highest governing body of the institution (OAUSTECH) is the Senate. The Senate is the highest decision-making body of the school. Hence, it controls how the institution is run. Below is a brief discussion of some of the principal officers of the institution.

#1. Chancellor

Generally, the position of chancellor is usually occupied by a traditional ruler. This is the same in the case of OAUSTECH. Currently, the chancellor of OAUSTECH is HRM, Oba (Dr.) Fredrick Enitolorunda Obateru Akinrutan. He is the monarchical ruler of Ugbo Kingdom, in Ilaje, Ondo State. He is the owner of Obat Oil, one of Nigeria’s top privately-owned oil companies.

#2. Vice-Chancellor

The vice-chancellor is the administrative head of the institution. The VC ensures the standard of the institution is maintained. Since its inception, the institution has reported tenures of different vice-chancellors. Some of them include:

Admission Guide of OAUSTECH

Every year, a large number of students seek admission into the Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology. As a result, gaining admission into the institution can be quite tough. However, anyone can make it through. Therefore, if you can meet the admission requirements and adhere to every application guidelines, you may be considered for admission. #1. SSCE Requirements:

  • Firstly, candidates who seek to gain admission into the university must obtain at least 5 credit passes from WAEC/NECO/NABTEB (or its equivalent) relevant to the intended course of study. Note, that these credit passes must not be obtained in more than two sittings.

#3. Post UTME requirement

  • Apart from sitting for WAEC, candidates should also register for and write the Post UTME. Likewise, the candidates are expected to have good performance in their Post UTME examination.

    You will visit the OAUSTECH application portal and register yourself using your active email ID and telephone number. Thus, create your login details and obtain your password.

  2. Fill Personal Details

  3. Upload Documents


    When you’ve successfully logged in, look to the left panel of your dashboard and do the following;
    Click on the button there to fill out the application form. Ensure you correctly fill in your details.
    When you are sure you are done filling out the form, click on the save button provided therein.
    Then, upload your passport photograph for identification according to the required format (JPG/PNG) and size.
    Hence, select your screening center and date.
    Note: You will obtain an application ID on the portal. You will be required to take it to the bank to make a payment for your application form. Students can go to the following banks to make payments. WEMA, Diamond, First Bank, GTB, or UBA bank to pay an application fee of 2,000 Naira only. When at the bank, just tell the teller that you want to pay for the Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology application fee. They will charge you a service fee of #350. Summing up to 2,350 Naira as the application fee.

  4. Payment Review

How to Pay the OAUSTECH School Fee?

To pay your school fee, here is the step-by-step process:

  • Log in to the student portal using your matriculation number or JAMB reg. number ( for fresh students)
  • Select fee payment and select the type of fee you want to pay.
  • Afterward, generate an RRR and proceed to make your payment online using your debit card. Similarly, you can visit any nearby Bank to complete this payment.
  • On successful completion of your payment, confirm the payment.
  • Finally, an Email address containing your payment receipt will be sent to you. Save this Email for future reference.

Candidates who score less than 180 in JAMB may not be able to gain admission in OAUSTECH as the university’s JAMB cut-off is usually 180. Nevertheless, candidates who scored 167 in JAMB and did a pre-degree in OAUSTECH may stand a chance to study any other less competitive course apart from their selected choice.
