About the Host

Ranking as the second largest producer and exporter of liquefied natural gas in Africa, Nigerian LNG Limited is a key player in the business of LNG globally. NLNG Limited is a joint venture incorporated in 1989 to produce Liquefied natural gas (LNG) and Natural Gas Liquids. 

The company produces high-quality NGLs comprised of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG – Propane and butane) and condensates as byproducts of the natural gas liquefaction process. 

NLNG is owned by four shareholders;  the Federal Government of Nigeria which is represented by NNPC (49%), Shell Gas B.V. (25.6%), TotalEnergies Gaz & Electricity Holdings (15%), and Eni International N.A.N. ar. I (10.4%).

The NLNG Scholarship scheme was founded as a crucial component of the education intervention program to their host communities however, it opened up allowing entries from students all over Nigeria in 2003.

How Long Will The NLNG Scholarship Award Last?

The scholarship runs throughout each awardee. However, the annual renewal of the award is dependent on the awardee’s conduct in behavior and academic performance.

The scholarship scheme was reviewed to grant the award to 300 beneficiaries per year instead of 150 beneficiaries, beginning from the 2018/2019 academic session.

Eligible Nationality

Recipients of the NLNG scholarship award for undergraduates must be nationals of Nigeria residing in Nigeria. Only students attending public universities in Nigeria are qualified for this scholarship.

Which Level is Eligible for the Scholarship?

Students must be full-time registered undergraduates in their first or second year at their university at the time of submission of applications. 

NLNG Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the NLNG Scholarship award for undergraduates, applicants must meet the following requirements;

  • Must be a Nigerian citizen
  • Must possess a West African Secondary School Certificate (WASSCE), Nigerian Examination Council certificate (NECO), or equivalent certificate in one sitting
  • For direct-entry students, applicants must show proof of an A-level or equivalent certificate
  • Must be a full-time registered student in any recognized public university in Nigeria at the time of application
  • Must be a certified 100-level or 200-level student 
  • Must have a copy of their UTME ( Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination) score. Applicants are required to have a minimum UTME score of 200.
  • Must provide a copy of their letter of admission into the university including their matriculation number
  • Must have a minimum CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) of 3.5
  • Must not be a beneficiary or recipient of any other scholarship award from another organization, company, firm, or agency. 
  • Applicants must not be a child, wad, spouse, immediate relative, or staff of the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited. 

Age Requirements

The age requirement for the NLNG Scholarship for undergraduates is 15 years and above. To qualify, applicants must not be below 15 years of age in their 100 level or 200 level in any recognized public university in Nigeria.
