Brief History Federal University of Technology Minna

The Federal University of Technology Minna, popularly known as FUTMINNA, was established on February 1, 1983. This institution was developed as a result of the desire to have a Nigerian institution that would boost the country’s affinity for technology and engineering. Thus, the university is a technology and engineering-based research institution.

Initially, the institution school was making use of the Government Teachers’ College in Bosso to run its activities. This remained FUTMINNA’s permanent site until the government acquired 10,650 hectares of land in Gidan Kwano in Minna, where the main campus is located. Currently, there are 10 faculties in FUTMINNA, including the School of Postgraduate Studies.

As of 2009, the school had a student capacity of over 13,000 students and 698 academic staff members. Today, the school has grown to over 24,000 students, with well-equipped structures including an ICT center. Typically, FUTMINNA has developed many innovative engineering inventions in the past. No wonder they have been featured in the International Association of Universities ‘ Guide to Higher Education in Africa and the Association of African Universities in 1999.

The Department of Microbiology in FUTMINNA, led by Prof S.A. Garba and his team, developed and produced a typhoid fever vaccine. Likewise, some of the students of FUTMINNA have developed things like Motor-car crankshaft, Rice de-stoning machine, Multi-purpose grinder, and a lot more innovative structures during their studies. The current chancellor of FTMINNA is HRM Eze Eberechi N. Dick (JP). He is also known as Eze Udo of Mgboko Nwga Amaise Autonomous community, as he is the traditional ruler of the community.

#2. Vice-Chancellor

The vice-chancellor is usually in control of the running of activities in the school. Thus, this position is usually nominated for. The vice-chancellors in FUTMINNA usually have a tenure of five years in office. The current vice-chancellor of the school was inaugurated into office in 2017.

Additionally, the V.C. is solely responsible for moving the school forward to Cardinal 3 G’s point. He claims that these 3 Gs meant: Good governance, Guided by statutes of the University and law of the land, Global best practices. Therefore, since the school’s inception to date, FUTMINNA has had several vice-chancellors who have lead the school. #3. Registrar

Registrars are responsible for the safekeeping of the official records and registers of the school. In FUTMINNA, the Registrar is responsible for controlling and organizing the following Units: Establishment Division, Academic Office, Central Administration, Staff Training, Housing and Passage Units. Thus, over the years, the school has had several registrars. Admission Processing Guide

Normally, trying to get admission into FUTMINNA is like every other University in Nigeria. The students are expected to enroll for JAMB and ensure they make up at least the general JAMB cutoff mark of the school (I80). Furthermore, the students must have sat for their final secondary school exams, WAEC/NECO, in not more than two sittings. Also, they must get at least a pass in Maths and English and any other three courses relevant to their aspired field of study.

When at the bank, tell the teller that you want to pay for the Federal University of Technology, Minna application fee. They will charge you a service fee of #350. Summing up to 2,350 Naira as the application fee.

Generally, FUTMINNA gladly welcomes both international and domestic students to apply for admission to the school. However, the school receives applications from over 13,000 students every year and admits only about 5,000 students. Therefore, the acceptance rate of the school is around 38%.
