Typically, what we now know as the Federal Polytechnic Oko started as the College of Arts and Science in 1979. The institution is located at Oko in Anambra State Nigeria. Then the school specialized in teaching students about the standard of sitting for the General Certificate in Education (GCE) exams.
The founding of this Polytechnic was an effort of the Oko Progressive Union (OPU).
