Brief History

As earlier said, Babcock University is a privately operated university in Nigeria. Therefore, it is a profit-oriented school. Nevertheless, the school is very disciplined as they don’t tolerate any form of indecency. As it is a Christian-based university. Owned by the Seventh-day Adventist church in the country.

Babcock University was established in 1959. The school was formerly known as Adventist College of West Africa (ACWA) and started then in Chief Olufemi Okulaja compound with just seven students. The inception of the school was a result of the Missionary activities in Nigeria then.

However, the Adventist College of West Africa (ACWA) later changed its name to Babcock University. this was in honor of David C. Babcock one of the American missionaries who started up the activities of the Seventh-day Adventist church in Nigeria. 

Meanwhile, Babcock University was fully inaugurated by the Nigerian government on April 20, 1999. The school has a student capacity of over 20,000 students. There are 10 faculties in the school including the school of postgraduate and one college. Babcock University has zero tolerance for indiscipline actions from students. Admission Processing Guide

The admission process into Babcock University is such a simple one to obtain. It is just like an application for admission into any of the Nigerian Institutions. The students need to apply for the JAMB examination and meet all the requirements of the exam body. After which they are to ensure they score up to 160 of the grade point.

Also, the candidates are to ensure that they have sat and passed the WAEC/NECO exam with at least five credit passes in three of their core major subjects in secondary school then including Mathematics and English. The school only accepts a combination of not more than two sittings for the exam. But for students applying for Medicine and Surgery, only one sitting is accepted. It is advised not to consider applying for admission to the school if you are less than 16 years of age. How to Register for Babcock Admission Screening

To successfully enter the screening process into Babcock Uni, students have to ensure they follow the underlay guides;

  1. Visit Website

  2. Fill Personal Details


    After that, log in using your email address as the username and the sent password to the email address you used for creating login details.

  3. Upload Documents


    When you’ve successfully logged in, look to the left panel of your dashboard and do the following;
    Click on the button there t fill out the application form. Ensure you correctly fill in your details.

Students can either go to the following banks to make payments. WEMA, Diamond, First Bank, GTB, or UBA bank to pay an application fee of 2,000 Naira only. When at the bank just tell the teller that you want to pay for the Babcock application fee. They will charge you a service fee of #350. Summing up to 2,350 Naira as the application fee.

  4. Payment Review


    After you’ve made the payment, log back to the application portal and submit. Note that you cannot apply without making the bank payment.

  5. Print Form

How to Pay Babcock School Fees

The school fees payment process for Babcock’s tuition fee is a simple one. The students are required to log in to their dashboard with the login details they created during registration.

Cost of Living

Knowing that Babcock is a private elite university. The cost of living in Babcock is quite expensive. Though the students are all obliged to live on campus any student who decides to stay off camp must sign an undertaking with the notice of his parents. There are a total of 18 hostels in the school of which the Medical students have their to them alone. This, in essence, eliminates distractions and noise from students in other disciplines as you know studying Medical courses requires concentration.

The school is also responsible for providing the feeding of the students. But this also depends on the package. Whether the student paid for a 2-meal or 3-meal a day. Also, the hostel spaces are in packages that depend on the students’ pockets. 

One thing Babcock University jokes about is their church hours. All students are expected to be 8in Church in the stipulated time or face the consequences.

  • Premium Halls: The premium halls consist of the Crystal, Royal, Havilah Gold, and King Delights halls.

What are the Hostel Requirements at Babcock University for Female Students? 

Females in Babcock University hostels are required to do the following;

  • No wearing of indecent dressing like skirts above the kneel. Or transparent clothes that expose the body.
  • Students are not allowed to bring any cooking utensils as the food we are provided for them. Also in case, you need to bring stuff like Indomie, you can use the school kitchen. However, students can bring electric kettles and other devices.
  • Thus female students are obliged to wear skirts that are at least three inches above the kneel
  • Female students are also not allowed to carry indecent hairstyles within the school premises.

Accommodation Fees:

The accommodation fees for each hostel differ from the hostel package you wish to pay for. But the accommodation fees include;

  • Regular Halls: Students that ply for this hall have to pay the sum of 99,120 Naira for an Academic session or 49,560 per semester
  • Premium Halls: Students that ply for this hall have to pay the sum of 212, 400 Naira for an Academic session or 70,800 per semester
  • Classic Halls: Students that ply for this hall have to pay the sum of 212, 400 Naira for an Academic session or 106,200 per semester.

Feeding Fee:

  • 2-meal Option: If you only want to be served two meals in a day, you’d have to pay the sum of 133,529 Naira per session or 66,746 per semester
  • 3-meal Option: If you only want to be served three meals in a day, you’d have to pay the sum of 200,293 Naira per session or 100,147 per semester

#2. PCF Education Endowment Fund

This is a fully-funded scholarship program for students studying at Babcock University. The scholarship program is organized by the Parents Consultative Forum (PCF) of Babcock University. The PCF education endowment fund is only offered to students whose parents or major sponsor is deceased. The student must have been enrolled in the school before the incident occurred. Any students eligible to apply for this scholarship program will be asked to provide certain information when completing the scholarship form.

They will be required to carefully fill in their details including;

  • Course and year of study
  • Name of the student
  • Name of the deceased sponsor
  • The student’s relationship with the sponsor.
  • Employment details of the sponsor
  • The residential address of the sponsor
  • Students’ signatures and date
  • The student bursary clearance for the previous semester
  • A copy of the student ID card

  • The student must have already been a student at Babcock before the death of the sponsor or parent.
  • You must have paid the Consultative Forum fee throughout your study years before the incident
  • The beneficiary must present a death certificate from a qualified doctor as concern the death of their sponsor
  • The PCF council must have been informed when the death occurred.
  • Finally, the scholarship will be approved and remitted to the school directly during the PCF meeting

#3. Springtime Development Foundation (SDF) Scholarship Program

The scholarship program is being sponsored by the Springtime Development Foundation (SDF). Thus, the scholarship program is awarded to students of Babcock University who have shown evidence of financial needs. The scholarship award is given to students once every academic session. The application letter is always sent directly to the SDF

Eligibility Criteria

  • To be able to apply for this scholarship program, you must show evidence of financial need.
  • You must be an attendant of the Adventist church

Students Support Services (Needy Students Fund)

#4. Ilishan Indigenes Scholarships

The scholarship program is being sponsored by the Ilishan Education Committee. The scholarship program is only applicable to students whose genealogy has been traced to be at Ilishan, Ogun state. Knowing that this is the school location. Hence, the scholarship program only covers the tuition fees of the successful winners. To stay updated on the application period from this scholarship program, you’d have to regularly visit the school scholarship board as it is always notified there and in other vicinities of the school

Eligibility Criteria

Hence, to be eligible to apply for this scholarship program, the students need to meet the application criteria for the scholarship program;

  • As earlier said, to be able to apply for the Ilishan Indigenous scholarship program at Babcock University, you must be an indigene of Ilishan-Remo in Ogun state.
  • Also, you must be a registered student at Babcock University and must have at least one year in your study program.
  • You must have a good academic performance to be considered for the scholarship program. Thus, students with grades less than a “C” are advised not to consider applying
  • Finally, the award you must not have been recorded for any sort of ill-disciplined action in the school.
