How Is Your Award Average Calculated?

For all students (Arts, Business and Economics, Education, Kinesiology, and Science), the University of Winnipeg calculates scholarship averages based on the following:

  • Best 40S English (Comprehensive Focus, Literary Focus, or Transactional Focus), and
  • Best 40S Math (Pre-Calculus, Applied Math or Essential Math), and
  • One other 40S or higher-level full-credit course.

Meanwhile, students coming from other provinces in Canada or the USA, may not need math for graduation. If you take a Grade 12 math the university will use it in your award average calculation. If you don’t take a Grade 12 math, they will calculate your average using a Grade 12 English course plus two other top Grade 12 courses.
